During the madness of the virus infiltrating our house, Preston was SO fussy. We weren't sure if he was coming down with it or what. We never heard him cry so much...ever. He was diagnosed with a bad yeast rash previously and the ointment wasn't helping. We weren't sure if the fussiness was because his rash was getting worse but it looked horrible! He's never had any diaper rash and this first one was so wicked looking -- small red welts all over, etc. The rash would look like it was getting better and then would come back looking worse. I thought it might have been because the daycare was using generic brand wipes I gave them until I got our usual ones but that wasn't it either. We finally got him an appt because the rash looked the worst it ever looked. I'm glad we got him an appointment because it turned out that the sweet baby had his first ear infection! Hence the reason why he was SO fussy. They gave us amoxicillin for the infection and fluconazole suspension for the yeast infection. He's having a bad side effect to taking amoxicillin which is vomiting and its only after his night time dose. We have had vomiting 3 nights in a row where he completely throws up his nighttime feeding. The doctor wants us to try to give it to him earlier in the evening to see if he has the same reaction. He handles his morning dose just fine so they think it might be because he's lying down too soon after taking it.
In between the stomach bug, ear infection, and yeast rash, Preston found his feet AND rolled over on the floor! I'm not sure its possible for our sweet boy to be old enough to do these things but time sure isn't stopping and he's just amazing. He's starting to move himself around in his crib too. We'll put him down with his head to one end and he'll move to the other side. He's definitely figuring his world out by exploring with his hands and feet! He has yet to roll over while in the crib but I'm pretty sure he won't be far behind. His other big milestone this month is giggles. He loves to laugh at us and especially Baker. I love watching them interact. It warms my heart because Baker talks about when Preston can crawl and walk about how he wants to go and play with him in the sandbox and at the playground.
