Long July 4th Weekend!

July 4th fell on a Thursday this year so I got to enjoy a long 4 day weekend while Gordie unfortunately had to work on Friday but we made the best of it by meeting him in Swansea for lunch!

Quick recap of our long weekend...

July 4th we celebrated with lunch at The Cookout.  If you've never eaten there its delicious!  I hear their milkshakes are to die for so we'll have to take another trip there soon.  After lunch we spent the day poolside in Lugoff at Gordie's Aunt Weslyn's house.  It was so fun and Baker thoroughly enjoyed the pool and kept asking why we don't have one in our backyard.  The rain held off thankfully since lately it has been SO rainy.  It was nice to spend the day in the sunshine!

Friday morning I took the boys to the doctor because their persistant cough wasn't going away.  I'm glad I did because Preston had a sinus infection and Baker had a double ear infection!  Antibiotics all around for our house.  P is on amoxicillin and B is on Augmentin.  After their appointment we ventured down to see Gordie at work.  Baker has been dying to see where Daddy works and he was head over heels that he was actually going to see it!  We ate at a bbq buffet place for lunch and of course Preston was the talk of the restaurant.  He was flashing smiles at everyone and they loved it.  He really is the happiest baby, always smiling.  Of course when it came time for Daddy to go back to work the entire way home I heard it like a broken record, "I want to go back to work with Daddy..."

Nana signed Baker up for swim lessons on Saturday mornings in Irmo. Saturday was his first lesson and let me tell you that Baker thoroughly impressed me.  We weren't sure how he'd do since we always were overprotective of him in the pool or water with floaties, etc.  He was not hesitant and was in the pool without any floaties and used the noodle to float with and the kickboard.  He was doing so well that the instructor would come by and get him and Gordie to do the next exercise ahead of everyone else.  I am so proud of our little water bug!  After swim lessons, Baker spent the day at Nana and Poppy's.  He had been asking for quite sometime to spend the night and he was so excited when he found out he was staying with them!  It was great to have some quiet time and enjoy eachother and have some one on one time with Preston.  P took a nap on Saturday afternoon for 2.5 hours and that meant I got to nap too! We took advantage of the time and went on a date night to Mellow Mushroom to enjoy some pizza! Preston had fun playing his usual game of peek-a-boo with his blanket and we had fun enjoying each others company.
