Poor Preston got bit by the nasty stomach bug of 2013. Thankfully none of us were taken down by its wrath but it really got a hold of him and didn't want to let go. He started with a fever on Friday that we at first chalked up to being teething. He is cutting some teeth but slowly more symptoms progressed. Fever, vomiting, fatigue, diarrhea, etc. Just when you'd think he was safe to try a bottle, puffs, or yogurt..it would all come right back up. I had off Monday for Columbus Day and it was the last straw. Preston had the most severe vomiting episode where he was gagging and gasping for air and it wouldn't stop coming up. He was in his crib and let me tell you it was a MESS! I quickly threw our stuff together and got him in the car [mostly cleaned up] and we headed to the dr. office. I had called and gotten an appt for 3pm earlier that day but I knew if I showed up early and he was this bad that they'd get us in earlier. They did and his dr. agreed he was dehydrated and he lost a pound which is a lot for him. He was back to 18 lbs 4 oz again. After 3 sticks and no luck at the office trying to get IV fluids in we were sent to the ER. We went to my mom's hospital so she was able to meet us in the ER which was a blessing! Always helps to have extra hands since I had Baker with me. :) Plus having someone else to talk to when things are so crazy esp being my mom was wonderful.
After 5 hours in the ER, 2 rounds of fluids, a dose of zofran, and a 6 oz bottle consumed we were discharged.
Thankfully he's doing much better and we are all on the mend from one hectic week. Here's a few pictures. The nurses kept commenting on how strong Preston is. We agree...he's a wiggler, a kicker, puncher, and a great pouter. :) He's also got lungs that bring a doctor into your ER room wondering if he had a new symptom... ;) He knew we were just ready to get outta there! Also a funny thing he did was aviod anyone wearing scrubs. He would cling to me and bury his head in my shoulder. I think he'll probably dislike all nurses from this day forward. Because in his mind nurses now mean needles. Boo!

Preston had a follow up at the dr. on Wednesday (10/16) and was then diagnosed with an ear infection. AGAIN...this time the right ear. This made the 5th ear infection so a tubes referral has been put in place. We did 2 antibiotic shots as treatment since his stomach wasn't ready for the suspension kind.

Nana & Poppy are the best. Nana brought us some take out for dinner so we wouldn't have to worry about cooking. So we had a picnic in the living room.

This man right here helped us so much this week with Preston. Just call him Super Poppy. He got spit up on and everything.
