Jacket

It's that time of year...finally! Fall has arrived and Baker got to wear his adorable jacket that his Nana got for him a while ago! I remember us thinking it would be forever until he could fit into it and look...it fits perfectly. I don't want to think about how much of a little boy he is quickly becoming; however, we are just so proud of him!!

I apologize for not blogging in a while, as you can imagine we have been incredibly busy. I very rarely find a spare moment to myself and when I do I'm exhausted and lying in bed or resting on the couch for the last few minutes of the evening. Somehow we have to manage to get Baker to bed earlier so we can have some quiet time to do things we want to! Lately we are lucky if we have him calmed down by 830PM. He is quite the night owl but also an early bird. I'm not quite sure how that works. Our goal is to strive for 8PM this month. We'll see how well it goes. Here are a few things we've been up to lately.
Friday, Sept 30 was mismatch pajama day at school! Yes, those pj's are mismatched, I promise.

He likes to feed himself these days with and without utensils. I think he was eating one of his favorite meals in this picture - tacos!
We went to the Okra Strut parade & festival with my parents. We had a blast! He tried a piece of fried okra. It lasted for about 3 chews and quickly came back out. I guess he has Gordie's taste buds for okra. ;)
Spaghetti face
He has the most beautiful porcelain skin!

Trip to Krispy Kreme...is he excited or what!?

As you know, Baker is being seen by an early interventionist every Wednesday and also a Speech Therapist every Tuesday. This gives Baker extra 1 on 1 attention for 2 hours each week at daycare. They both strive to get him to verbally communicate his wants and needs as well as sign them. These sessions have greatly helped Baker communicate with us and we have seen a lot of changes over the past few weeks. He is doing great in each session. He will come up to me when he needs help and says "belp" and does the sign for help. Of course he is still a typical almost 2 year old that says things when he feels like it but for the most part these sessions are working great!

Potty training is going great! He definitely grasps the idea of going #2 which I've been told is awesome. He'll walk up to us and say "poo poo" so we'll sit him down on his potty and he'll go. He will go #1 in the potty if he goes #2 but as far as just going #1 he hasn't vocalized that he has to go to us first. We'll work on that. So far so good. We aren't doing it hardcore yet since the room he is in at school doesn't work on that until he moves up into the 2 yr old room. Eeeek! Yes, that is a reminder that is NEXT MONTH...sheesh. Let's not discuss that.

We got the hardware shipped in for Baker's crib to be turned into a big boy toddler bed! Somehow we lost all the screws when we moved home and haven't been able to use it since we got back. Here's how it will look...

I can't wait! It will look SO cute. We are taking our time transitioning him into it. He still loves the crib he is in so we will make the move sooner or later. I figure by his 2nd birthday it will be a good time. I do believe potty training and big boy/girl beds are the thing that parents rush the most and then regret it because it is a horrible experience because their child pushes back because they weren't ready. So for now we are clinging onto our baby and until he makes the move to try and climb out...we will stay put with the crib.

Baker can say his colors (red, yellow, purple, green (geen), blue (bloo), black (back), brown (bown). He can also count from 1-5 and he says YAY at the end. We are working on counting to 10. He finally says Poppy so now my dad has a name! His favorite show is still Caillou. He loves music and will clap, sing, and "raise the roof" to show he enjoys the song. The funniest thing he's said so far was "bye bye dij" "bye bye ang" when saying bye at my parents house. Dij & Ang are my parents dogs! :) This boy lately is all smiles and he thoroughly enjoys his books. I found him this morning sitting up in his crib at 530AM reading a book by the light of his glowworm. I walked in with some milk to give him and he just looked up at me and smiled. I said "what are you doing up so early?" He said "book! and pointed at it" like come on mom can't you see? hahah I just love how much of a morning person he is. He truly is that ray of sunshine in the morning that can turn your attitude right around. No matter how much we might not feel like going to work that day or how we don't want to get up to start the morning process, seeing him and his big smile makes the start to your day that much more special.

Remember these? These were taken exactly 1 year ago. We still have yet to figure out what he'll be for Halloween this year! Stay tuned...
