March Madness!

Birthday Girls!

March was a crazy busy month for us -- hence my lack of posts but I promise to get better! We celebrated two special birthdays-- Auntie Tootie (SIL/Gordie's sister) and Nana!

We celebrated them on the same Sunday in March by eating brunch with the Moore's at The Original Pancake House which was delicious!Later that day we headed to Irmo to eat dinner with my parents! We went to our family favorite - TR! (Texas Roadhouse for those of you that don't know). It was a great time seeing my brother and celebrating my mom's special day. My dad got them to sing for her but of course I missed getting a picture of it!

I'm not quite sure where the time goes but I am certain that life with a two year old should be considered chaos! Our lives have turned a little upside down and my OCD has been on the back burner since my house doesn't ever seem to stay clean or tidy. It used to really stress me out if it wasn't just so but I think I've come to realize my life being a little out of order is OK! Baker is constantly on the go and wanting to "show us this or that" so he's very hands on in wanting us to help play with him. He loves the phrase "UM here Mama, UM here Daddy" He's saying "come" but it comes out sounding like um. :) It melts our hearts having him grab our hands wanting us to play with him or see what new thing he's done. He is so proud of himself when he lines his trucks up and calls them his truck train!

Baker is 28 months --wow! I can't believe hes almost 2 1/2 years old. We are still working on potty training and he's doing a little better. I have to see what they're doing at daycare b/c whatever it is we aren't on the same page. We are on target with #2 but #1 is taking some time. Although the transition hasn't been as smooth as I would have liked...Baker has enjoyed one thing lately and that is diaper changing his babies! I'm not sure what the fascination is but its pretty darn cute. He actually got out a few wipes to use on monkey. Ha!

He still loves to dig in the dirt and help us in the yard as much as possible. He doesn't miss an opportunity to get dirty!

Enjoying his sandbox!

Baker loves all playground equipment and when we are driving around it is a rare trip if we don't hear him scream from the backseat when he sees a SLIDE or SWINGS! Here's one of my favorite pictures taken on a beautiful Sunday afternoon this month.

We also enjoyed a play date at the Little Gym with Kaiya! She invited us to her class one Saturday morning and they had a BLAST together.

His speech therapist said he scored 77/100 on his last test. She is going to start doing some mouth/tongue exercises to get him to pronounce certain letters more clearly. He likes to skip some letters in words when he says it like saying "Ert" when he's pointing to "Bert" in the Sesame Street book. They are really excited in his progress he has made though and she said he is really improving and these exercises should really help. I hope so! He is talking a lot more intelligibly but we'd like to see much more so we are all working hard with him.

He had his first ice cream cone from Brusters this month. I wish I knew about this a long time ago but kids under 40 inches get a free baby cone! He absolutely devoured the entire thing...sprinkles and all! Thank you Poppy for letting us enjoy your Groupon with Nana! :)
Yummmm!

He got a new pair of Saucony tennis shoes this month -- he went up one full size to an 8. His foot is measuring 7.5. He's wearing 2T and 3T clothing and is weighing around 33lbs. He needs a haircut just about every 2.5-3 weeks...just like his daddy. Miss Stacey at Sharkey's Kids Cuts always trims up him just right! He loves to "swim" in the bathtub and his favorite show is still Caillou. In honor of Easter, his daycare did an Easter egg hunt and they told me he lit up during that activity. Of course he would...picking up and collecting things is his favorite activity. He has not let go of the big beach bucket they gave him all weekend.

We are staying around town this Easter spending it with both our families which will be the best! I know that is what we missed the most when we lived in Utah not being able to be near our families on holidays. This year was the first time I ever gave up something for Lent. I never really did it before and at the end of last year after going through the miscarriage I learned a lot in the process. My faith and trust in God is much stronger knowing that everything that happens to us goes through him first and when things happen in our lives they are meant to happen. I felt compelled to give something up this year and what else do I love more than sweet tea? I will say, it has been SO hard at times and I know some of you are saying sweet tea?? Really? But yes, it takes a lot especially when all you prefer to drink! You will find me Sunday after church with one big glass of sweet tea in my hand!
