"Rosie"

Today Gordie found a black lab in our garage.  He had just gotten home from work and she walked in and laid there quietly.  On his way out the door, he shushed her out of the garage and went on his way to the gym.  We are used to random dogs roaming the neighborhood but we hadn't seen this one before but didn't think anything of it. When Gordie got back from the gym she still was hanging around the driveway.  Gordie told her to go home and walked inside.  I walked out in the garage later that evening to get some ice and was greeted by a sweet pup full of life just wagging her tail for attention.

We recently dealt with Miller escaping our backyard and being gone for 5 hours and by the grace of God, Gordie & my parents roaming the neighborhood for hours, and talking to the right neighbors--we got him back! So we wanted to return the good deed and ensure this pup was safe for we just knew that SOMEONE would be missing her somewhere. We didn't want to keep her in the garage because we weren't sure what she might destroy because she was still a puppy so we opted to have her join Miller in his kennel if they got along okay.  They had a good first meeting so the kennel is where she would stay until we found her owners.

We contacted our HOA person that sends out e-mails to the neighborhood, I put up fliers in the neighborhood, we took her to Pets Inc. to see if she was microchipped (she wasn't), and I even contacted the ChasingTails Pet Patrol FB page to see if they could help find the owners.  Days passed and we heard nothing.  Our biggest fear was that this poor girl was dropped off and there were no owners that would be claiming her. We nicknamed her Rosie from Caillou as that's a name that Baker liked hence the title to this post.

On Saturday, we made the decision to find her a furever home. We just don't have the resources to keep her so I sent out text messages to friends and contacted the Chasing Tails Pet Patrol FB page and they posted on their page that she was looking for a foster or furever home.  Within minutes people were commenting on the post and we had a potential family for her!  It was absolutely amazing.  I just knew we were going to make someones Christmas extra special.  Gordie made the phone call to the interested family as they had some questions about her.  I do believe this sweet "Rosie" made her way to our home knowing that we would take good care of her.  I was so thankful that someone took great care of Miller while he was loose and that we were just paying it forward and returning the favor.  Returning the favor in finding her a sweet home to go to a family that loves her unconditionally and one that wouldn't dump her on the side of the road again.

The family came over an hour later and just like that Rosie was gone!  She loved playing fetch with Gordie and Miller loved chasing her around the yard.  I think Miller enjoyed having a companion for a few days but we told him to not get too used to it! They told Gordie that they lost their "Katie" just a few months prior to cancer.  She was also a black lab with chocolate color eyes.  It was meant to be.  They were just to the point emotionally that they wanted another dog and sweet "Rosie" was going to fill that void of pain they had from losing Katie.  It solidified everything when they told Gordie that she already had a stocking...a stocking!! This sweet girl was going to a wonderful family and we couldn't be happier.

Wishing you lots of love with your new family "Rosie"

This is the pic the new family posted after picking her up and making a Petsmart stop on their way home.  She already had a collar and is making herself feel right at home in the family car!
