My dad took Baker to the Dr. on Thursday, February 21 due to him complaining about his private parts "hurting". He kept saying it hurt and would hold down there with his hands. They took a sample and tested it for UTI but it came back negative. I'm not sure what was going on but that seemed to fizzle out and he went back to his normal self, almost. The Dr noticed a cough at the appointment but said to just watch it. He didn't think it amounted to anything at that time so they left and went onto McDonalds for an ice cream treat which Baker loved! Well, the cough lingered and wouldn't ever go away. Baker was scheduled for his re-circumcision surgery on March 1st but with him having respiratory issues coughing so bad I had my doubts about proceeding. One night, he was up coughing so bad that I pulled out our old nebulizer from when he had RSV and some expired albuterol [yeah, it was expired but we were desperate]. We gave him a breathing treatment which helped him get through the rest of the night sleeping instead of coughing. We did another one that morning and went on with our normal routine of work and school. However, I wanted to have him checked out by his Dr. first to ensure the cough didn't develop into anything . I was excited to have an appt at 4pm Tuesday, February 26 b/c I could get him in without taking too much time off of work and we would have a much better night getting rest instead of him being up every hour coughing. I packed up my stuff at work and walked out the door only to see this... that's right folks. Meet my first flat tire...
It was apparent that I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. I called the Dr office and got another appt the next morning, called AAA to the rescue, and my dad came from the baseball game to help. Gordie had Daddy duty picking up the boys since I wasn't going to be able to get them. I am so thankful for AAA and my dad for helping get the flat fixed at Tire Kingdom. Thankfully it was just a long piece of metal that punctured my tire and it was able to be patched. I'm just glad nothing happened to us while I was on the interstate or had my babies in the car with me!
Fast forward to the Dr. appt Wednesday morning--Baker has bronchitis. POOR BABY! Dr. said I was doing a fabulous job introducing the breathing treatments and we gave him amoxicillan to clear everything up. He was not even acting sick but poor guy you could tell was an absolute trooper. He got the yummy bubble gum medicine but said he did NOT like the "pink stuff" Gosh, I used to beg my mom/the doctor to give me that medicine when I was little!
The irony in all this is that exactly 3 years ago, Baker was hospitalized for RSV and received breathing treatments in and out of the hospital. So exactly 3 years to the day here we are doing the same treatments...Poor thing was just as pitiful this time as he was last time. I guess he just has a harder time with respiratory illnesses due to him getting RSV so young. I'm glad we have that nebulizer! Oh yes and I did get some new albuterol so no worries as I won't be giving him anymore of that expired stuff! :)
With the diagnosis of bronchitis, we canceled the surgery and rescheduled for March 22nd. I just want to get it over with already. :( I am praying that it doesn't affect him in a negative way. I just know it will be hard to keep him down and resting for 2 weeks without going outside, playing, gymnastics, etc. ahhhhhhhh I keep saying to myself it will be okay but I just wish the dr. in Utah would have done it right for the first time.
