When Preston got tubes, I had assumed that he would be like Baker and go ear infection FREE. Boy, was I wrong. He's had 2 ear infections in February and to boot we found out his tube is out of his left ear. It is unfortunate the tube didn't last longer than it did--barely 3 months. Here we were talking about having to surgically remove Baker's before. UGH. It just is amazing how different bodies react to things. We'll head back to the ENT for a follow up plan to see what we need to do from here.
The first infection he was screaming hours on end one night and WOULD NOT STOP. We tried everything in the book to get him to calm down. We then figured it was the pressure in his ear(s) so we stuck some cipro drops in and he finally calmed down. I took him to the dr. and she confirmed it was a definite nasty RIGHT ear infection. We go through the course of finishing cipro drops and Omnicef after 10 days and all seems good. Then the bottom dropped again and we had another period where he just was uncontrollable screaming, crying, congested, etc. All of this seems to be when he is teething so there just is no way to prevent it. Back to the doctor we go and here we have an ear infection...the second one this month. The ped gave him amoxicillin. He randomly threw up a few times previously due to the congestion but we thought it would be better once the meds kicked in. Wrong again. His vomiting continued after I'd give him the medicine so he wasn't getting any relief at all. We still don't know if he was throwing up b/c of congestion or if he wasn't tolerating the antibiotic. The ped played it safe and switched him back to Omnicef [since we knew he handled it well and it had been 2 weeks in between] and he hasn't thrown up since. Whew!
I'm not sure if its the constant ear infections this past month that has completely killed his appetite but my open eater has now turned extremely picky and will spit mostly anything out. He used to eat any and everything and now we have a very limited palate mostly consisting of snack foods which we HATE feeding him when he revolts against our dinners. We keep pushing him though so we'll see if he goes back after we get this ear infection behind us. I'll report what the ENT says when we have our visit...

Preston is 15 months. I really can't believe how fast time is flying and I know I say that ALL the time but seriously. He's non stop on the go now. Can't leave him alone for a minute or else he clears the room and is into something. Preston is very curious, head strong, and mischievous. We have realized very quickly that he will be the boy that will constantly keep us on our toes. He will tear a clean room apart in 2.5 seconds. Will empty our book box in the matter of minutes but will always reach for one book he adores. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He even sings parts of it when you sing it to him. It's the sweetest.thing.ever. He's talking a lot more and recently added more words to his vocabulary like cracker, daiter for diaper, and nana to name a few.
He's in the 50-75% for weight, height, and head circumference. Aside from the nasty ear infections we are SO grateful for one healthy baby boy. One baby boy that is constantly walking these days. Before he didn't want to walk and now he is unsteady at times but looking incredibly cute nonetheless.
Here's some pictures of our latest adventures!
