Today I got a call from the CDC around 1:30PM telling me that Baker had projectile vomiting. I asked if he was running a fever and they said no. They were calling to give me a courtesy message to let me know what was going on. I asked them what they would like me to do and she said it might be best for someone to come get him since he wasn't "acting himself this morning". I thought it was quite strange since he was perfectly fine this morning when I left him at home. Gordie took him to daycare around 10AM and he said he was smiling and acting his usual, happy self. So in the matter of 3 hours he "wasn't himself all morning". I knew they had good intentions as he is always a happy baby and they always make a point to tell me how happy he is there on a daily basis so for them to say he wasn't himself was a little alarming.
I called Gordie and he picked him up right away and dropped him off at my work. I was going to finish the day out with him there. I called his pediatrician and they worked him in an appointment so here we were, set for his 4:50PM appointment. Around 3pm I got the urge to call the CDC back and talk to one of the caregivers to get more information so I would be "prepared" for his dr. appointment. I needed to know when and how much he ate all day. I knew his morning feeding and his feeding prior to daycare but I wasn't sure exactly what he ate while he was there. It couldn't have been but 1 bottle...or so I thought. The girl looked at his chart and saw he ate at 11AM and again at 12:30PM. Bingo. He was overfed. Gordie fed him 5oz at 915AM and then they fed him 5oz at 11 and again at 1230! Our poor baby had 15oz in a span of 3 hours in which he normally only gets 5oz!! No wonder he wasn't acting himself!!! They apologized left right and backwards for it but let it be known, this won't happen again. We are not inconvenicning ourselves and due to their inability to efficiently feed him. So we go from one daycare that lets him sleep all day and barely get his food intake to one that wants to overfeed him! I don't know which is worse! Poor guy. It is my guess that they confused his chart with another babies and then when they logged it they didn't take notice. I quickly called and cancelled his dr. appointment as that visit was no longer necessary. Thank goodness they don't penalize you for cancelling! He is feeling MUCH better since I brought him home. Sometimes I just wish I could stay home with him full time so that I could avoid situations ilke these! However, I know he gets great care there and I do enjoy working. We all hit bumps in the road like these so hopefully we just don't have anymore any time soon.
Here's to tomorrow being a MUCH better day. Aside from me having to get 2 cavities filled at the dentist in the afternoon, it should be great! Baker is fast asleep so that means I should be too. I promise to catch up and post pictures tomorrow. I have been so slack and there's no excuse!
xoxox
g'night!
