Daycare

Q - "Baker, do you want to go to daycare and play with some friends?"
A -Baker's response - Shakes his head, YES!

I know Baker might not truly "understand" my question but it was so cute at the time with him shaking his head yes and smiling from ear to ear. It made me at least think he knew what I was asking him. He really does enjoy the social aspect of daycare and since he's been out for 3 months, I've noticed a little here and there that when he is near kids at stores or when we go to friends houses that have kids - he just lights up when he's around them. I didn't worry about looking for a daycare facility before now since we weren't sure where we would be and what side of town we needed to look. But once I started looking, I got so discouraged! It seemed all of them had waiting lists that just go on forever - one was up to 2 years...Gasp!! I don't know about you but that is just nuts! It seemed to be almost impossible for us to get him into a daycare. As you guys know, I went into an immediate panic. I don't handle stress well lately since it just always seems like there is a roadblock with everything that we try to do. However, today was the day! We found a daycare near my parent's house (where we are still living for now) that had 1 spot open in the 1 year old room. Baker seemed to LOVE all the kids in the room and got on the floor and wanted to play with them immediately. They were all walking so I'm sure it will only be a matter of days once he starts next week until he is up and walking with all of them. Gordie put him down and Baker actually stood on his own while all the kids "sized" him up wondering who he was. It was SO encouraging to find a place that seems to be a great facility with caring staff. As you know, daycare is a hard subject for me. We are extremely careful about where to put him as I'm sure everyone is. I toured one place last week that I wouldn't even send Miller to and that says a lot because Miller is our German Shepherd! After being spoiled by sending him to the Hill AFB CDC, it is hard to find a comparable place since that facility and their staff was next to perfect. After a lot of searching, I think we found our place! He starts next Monday (Valentine's Day). I'll keep you updated on how it goes! I know he will love being back around little ones his age. I just will hate all the germs and yucks that go along with it!

Hope y'all are having a great week!
