Baker's 1st Trip to the Dentist

Baker's pediatrician told us right before his 3rd birthday would be the best time for him to have his first dentist visit.  I think I was more worried about the appointment than he was but I finally found a dentist that is in the network with Gordie's insurance so I booked an appointment right away!  The office specializes in pediatric dentistry and it is called Northeast Children's Dentistry.  It is a great place and I am very happy with our choice to take Baker there even though it takes us 30 minutes to get with it being on Clemson Road.

They always say your child should have their first visit when they get their first tooth.  So needless to say, since he is almost 3 I felt guilty not having taken him yet and was wondering if they'd be ashamed that we haven't been in yet.  However, he was an absolute champ they didn't bat an eye at me saying it was his first visit!  The hygienist [Ms. Sharonda] and Dr. Lawhon were both so impressed with how well he behaved and kept saying they didn't believe me when I said this was his first visit.  They were sure he had done it all before!  He even knew what to do when they put the suction in his mouth as he pressed his lips around it to get the extra water out.  I am so proud of our big boy.  He sat still and got x-rays of his top and bottom teeth, sat in the chair all by himself for a cleaning, and waited patiently on the doctor to come around to give him the all clear!      He picked blue raspberry paste and did great while Ms. Sharonda polished his teeth.  He kept trying to stick his tongue out to "taste" the polish.  He watched the Dr. Seuss movie, The Lorax, during his cleaning so that helped take his mind off of what was going on.

Report:  He's got 20 teeth total [10 on the top and 10 on the bottom].  His x-rays looked great and the doctor said his teeth enamel, coloring, position, and spacing look great!  We couldn't be happier with his perfect report so we will see you again in 6 months Dr. Lawhon!

**Baker doesn't always wear his pajamas in public.  :)  It was pajama day at school today and he refused to change before his appointment as he was proud to sport his Buzz Lightyear PJ's!

Happy Boy!

He wasn't quite sure what was about to happen

He loved the Lightening McQueen picture on the wall
