Well, yesterday was my first day back at work and Baker's first day of daycare. Needless to say, it was a very stressful day for all of us. Here is a picture of Baker prior to leaving the house for daycare. Poor guy was really wondering where we were going SOOO early! You can tell it by the look on his face.

Dropping Baker off at daycare yesterday was hard but I didn't cry. Woohoo, I was trying to stay strong. I knew I was doing a good thing for us as a family by going back to work and it would be good for him to be around other babies and get used to other people caring for him as well. Socialization at any age is a good thing. But when Gordie picked him up he voiced quite a few concerns which made me very upset. I shed quite a lot of tears then to make up for not crying in the morning. One, they didn't follow our feeding schedule. He typically eats every 3 hours and never goes beyond that at home. However, he slept 5 out of the 8 hours he was there which meant he went 4 and 5 hours between feedings with only 1 wet and 1 poopy diaper all day. And to me that isn't enough!! They said he only cried once so that was good to hear; however, I didn't want him to get dehydrated! We called our pediatrician to check and make sure the statistics of when a baby is really dehydrated and he wasn't having those symptoms so he must have just been coping with being away from me all day by sleeping. However, Gordie did make our concerns known to them today when we dropped him off. The big issue is that by law they can't wake an infant up to eat as the infant has to dictate when they sleep and when they want to eat. However, I have an issue with him sleeping too much all day because then he sleeps horrible at night for us and we get no rest. I am hoping tonight is better than last night.
To make matters worse, Miller attacked Baker's carseat last night before I got home and chewed through the one shoulder strap that buckles Baker in and restrains him from coming out. Well, wasn't that just the cherry on top of a terrible day?!?! We had to go out and buy another car seat so we would have a way to get Baker to daycare in the morning. So in short, we got another car seat and everything is settled. Now I just have to get the strap replacements from Graco so that we can still use the other one as a back up. Phew, I sure was glad yesterday was over. I'll have to get a picture and upload it so you can see the destruction he did to the strap. Oh boy, I was FUMING!
Aside from daycare, everyone was happy to see me back at work and I was happy to be there! I got situated in my office and aggressively started doing training for the new systems that were implemented while I was out. I have a lot of catching up to do and will continue to get caught up this week! I will say that It is a little weird pumping while I am at work. I make sure to lock the door and put a sign on the door stating I will BRB. Gosh, I'd be so embarrassed if someone tried to walk in on me doing that! hahah I face the wall just in case. I just am paranoid! Not to mention, its hard finding the time to break and take 15 minutes to do it. But I want to continue to breastfeed him for quite sometime so I'm sure it will be routine in due time.
On a better note, today was MUCH better. We made our concerns known to the daycare and while we didn't exactly get what we wanted to hear (them feeding him more often) they were assuring us that they are going to definitely take good care of him as he will let them know when he's ready to eat and would let me know if his disposition changed at all during the day. His cuddle gram today telling us how he did was better. He still only ate twice while he was there but he had 2 wet and 1 poopy diaper which is an improvement from yesterday. He also didn't sleep as much which is good. He must like it there because he smiles every time he leaves there. Here is a picture Gordie took of him right when they were leaving today. This picture let me know that he is A OK with being at daycare. It put my mind at ease seeing this picture late this afternoon when I was at work. He just melts my heart!
