One Month - Figs

It has been exactly 1 month since we closed on the house! Time sure continues to amaze me at how fast it goes by. We are absolutely enjoying every minute yet we are still unpacking little by little and we have a while to go but making progress. We still need to mount the new TV, decorate/hang pictures, and find a spot for this and that but overall it is coming together!

Baker loves his room and especially his toy bin in his room. He loves to play in his room and especially take all the pillows and blankets in his room and situate them so he has a fort to sit in. It is so cute! He is getting in his routine nicely and when we get him undressed for a bath and you say, "let's go take a bath!" he goes straight for HIS bathroom right in front of the tub for you to help him in.

A snapshot of his toy bin - I love Instagram!

Big boy during a power outage - iPad and pillow fort to the rescue!

Isn't this just the sweetest picture?

We didn't realize when we first bought this house that we had such a fruitful backyard, seriously. I mean it is an awesome yard the lot itself is a half acre so Miller has a lot of room to roam. However, we found out that we have fruit in our backyard! We have a fig tree that is absolutely HUGE along with 2 apple trees. I also found out that figs are NOT something I have a taste for and neither does Baker so Gordie gets to enjoy them all to himself...or so we thought! Come to find out that when the figs ripened, Miller sniffed them out too! Yep, our dog loves figs but let's just hope his digestive system loves them just as much. He will even get on his hind legs to stand up taller to pick them off the tree limbs! It's hilarious. Here's a picture of him sniffing and picking up the loot that already fell from the tree. The apples aren't very sweet (which is the way I like them) but these are green and a little bitter but not as bitter as a Granny Smith. Can you guess who likes them too? Yep, Gordie and Miller! Can you see a trend here? :)

Here are some pictures of the backyard while we are talking about it...

Our grass needs some TLC in this spot. There is a lot of shade which makes for it not to grow as much as the rest. The random "rock" in the middle of the picture is actually a cover for our well. Our sprinkler system runs off well water so we can water our grass as much as we want. It is SO much better than having to be careful so that our water bill isn't through the roof!

I promise I'll post more pictures of our actual house soon. I just need to get it cleaned up a bit and put away a few more boxes. :)

  1. Love that nice, big yard! Are you in Irmo?

  2. Hey Kristy! That yard was one of the factors that made that house stand out from the others we looked at. We LOVED all the space. We are actually in West Columbia/Lexington area off Hwy One!
