9 Month Well Visit & AM Routine

Today Baker had his 9 month visit with Dr. Chen. No shots this visit so we went in with all smiles and he shed no tears. :) It's funny because Baker is so quiet and observant during his Dr. appointments. I think he is just wondering what this crazy lady is doing sticking a wooden stick in his mouth that tastes funny and poking and prodding around. It's hilarious. Dr. Chen really likes him and I think she thinks Baker doesn't like her anymore since he doesn't smile or seem happy when he is in there. I really don't blame him for not smiling...I mean who likes going to the Dr. anyway regardless of the reason for your visit. He's a happy boy the rest of the time so I know it just must be because he "knows" that is the Dr. office.

Here are his stats...
  • 20 lbs
  • 29 inches long
  • 18 inches head circumferance
He's doing well on his growth charts/percentiles. 75% or more on length and 50% on weight. Overall Dr. Chen is very pleased with his growth and development. He is showing all the signs he should and doing exactly what he should be doing and more so we are happy with that. His ears look good too. We have a follow up with his ENT, Dr. Kelly, next Thursday so I'm anxious to have the expert look at how the tubes are working. No infections that she saw so at least we are making strides in the right direction!

We then celebrated his health and our beginning of the weekend to a dinner at Texas Roadhouse! As always, dinner was delicious...we love our steaks! Baker had a good dinner too (turkey, rice, and a sweet potato/corn mixture-Stage 2/3 baby food). We did give him a few small pieces of bread that he wasn't so sure about but enjoyed after it sat in his mouth for a minute. Their bread is SO good. He is eating really well. We always get such wonderful comments from his caregivers at daycare about how well he eats. I'm so glad we have a great eater. But if you ask me, I have the best baby on the planet. :)

I don't think I've mentioned it yet but I did post earlier that Baker says "Ma Ma". Of course he says it on his terms when he wants to but lately "Ma Ma" has turned into "mmmmmMUM" Yes, we have an English baby. He LOVES to say "Mum" and its hilarious to listen to him because he'll just carry on and say it a few times in a row. It's really sweet though, I'm loving it. :)

See what I mean? He's all smiles!
Deer in the headlights look...I think the flash stunned him.
He loved eating their bread

This weekend will be a Baker and "Mum" weekend. Gordie has to work Saturday and Sunday from 8AM - 5PM so the poor thing will be not getting much of a weekend and missing out on watching the USC vs GA game plus a bunch of other college/pro football so I have a sad boy on my hands. He is still pretty down and out about having to go in but such is life, right? He will be able to watch the replay of the game since we have Comcast and we can login on ESPN3.com and watch the games again, thankfully. We don't have a DVR (we are trying to save $) so at least he can watch it that way. At least I'll get in some quality time with my sweet baby boy!! I can't wait. Gordie has off Friday and Monday so at least he gets some time off but unfortunately I'll be working! I work until 12/noon tomorrow (4 hours) so I'll spend some time with him tomorrow afternoon at least.

Baker's morning routine is quite eventful. Have I mentioned before that I have the BEST baby? Well, I know I am partial since I am his "Mum" but he really is a great baby. He LOVES to sleep as most all babies do but Baker has perfected his day and night routine. Hopefully I don't curse myself but he still sleeps through the night brilliantly. He loves to sleep in and prefers to sleep til 9AM and absolutely HATES when we wake him up early. These days since Gordie is assisting the Fitness Center with PT evaluations, he is having to be at work at 7AM so that means we have to get Baker up at 545AM to have time to eat and get changed before heading out the door at 630AM. Our morning routine consists of me getting up and making his ba ba. While it warms up, I turn on the TV in our bedroom to Channel 7 which airs Sesame Street at 6AM. Baker LOVES Sesame Street. We have found his favorite character aside from Elmo is a newer one named Murray. After I get the TV on and ready, I go across the hallway to Baker's nursery. We've been running the humidifier every night to keep it from being so dry so I turn it off right away so I don't forget. I have a tendency to forget and leave it running all day which is not good since we aren't home so I have been making it a habit to turn it off first thing. Then I turn on the lamp in his room and watch him squirm around in his crib. Squirming means he is fighting that it is time to get up. He usually bats his arms around, grunts, and moans which all ends in a full body stretch putting his arms above his head and his legs straight out. I then pluck him out of the crib and whisk him over to our bed. He lies on my pillows and holds his ba ba to eat his breakfast while watching Sesame Street. He gets fed his actual "breakfast" (i.e. oatmeal etc.) when he gets to daycare so this is just his morning ba ba prior to his real breakfast. Once he finishes, we get him changed, dressed, and put his shoes on and he heads out the door with Gordie. Once I get them out the door, I can finally get myself ready! These days I've learned it is MUCH easier for me to take my showers the night before. I used to NEVER be able to do this because I preferred taking showers in the morning and feeling fresh/awake after a warm shower. However, my time in the morning is VERY limited. My hair takes 30 minutes to dry and I don't have that kind of time anymore in the morning like I used to so my hair for now has taken a backseat to looking "perfect" like it used to since I have more important things to tend to now. :) I wouldn't have it any other way.
