14M - Carolina Toddler

Baker is 14 months! Time is flying since we have moved home as the days and weeks just seem to pass us by so fast. Baker has been fighting a "sickness". It seems to go back and forth like a seesaw as to one day he's fine and another his nose is running, congested, and coughing nonstop, etc. I think he's adjusting to SC and all the fun that comes with it (allergens, humidity - yes even in the winter, and being at a regular altitude). We have been running the humidifier which has helped tremendously so I "think" he is on the mend.

Weekend Recap -
We spent the weekend out in Camden with Gordie's parents. We headed out there Friday afternoon after Gordie's interview in the morning and helped his parents move some stuff from their old shop to their new shop in DT Camden. I stayed at the house with Baker since he wasn't feeling the greatest and we watched cartoons! We had a yummy dinner from La Fiesta (the place is a-mazing). I don't know what they do but their ranch style chicken and chips and salsa are pretty delicious! We were supposed to spend the evening with my friend Clary and her BF along with some other friends but since Baker was under the weather, we couldn't. He gets very clingy to me when he feels ill and the thought of leaving him broke my heart especially when he kept crawling to me and wanting to lay his head on my lap.

Saturday morning we woke up and Gordie was feeling a little under the weather. I had some virus last week where I ached for 2 days and then felt extremely worn down to the point where all I wanted to do was nap and now Gordie was feeling the same way. However, he pulled it together and sucked it up to help his parents move the last bit of loads to the new shop and to their house. Thankfully, the moving is complete! I know they are so happy to be done moving! We left a little early on Saturday to head to Columbia since everyone was feeling somewhat fine to go to the Carolina v Kentucky basketball game! It was Baker's 14M "birthday" so what better way to celebrate than going to his first Carolina basketball game!? He did absolutely WONDERFUL! He sat on my lap for the greater portion of the time and watched or should I say stared at everything. He couldn't see much of the game in front of him unless he stood on my lap but all the noise, lights, people talking, and people watching had him SO entertained. Not to mention the nonstop puff and yogurt melt eating he did. Thank you Gerber for inventing those snack treats for toddlers! Although Carolina lost the game, it was still a great game overall.

Oh, is that right Mr. Kentucky Fan?

Baker has his game face on. (*Take a look at that hair - so blonde!)

Sunday we helped clean up the old shop a bit and then called it a day. We relaxed at home in Camden with everyone and took it easy. Gordie's dad works in Atlanta so he was going to be headed back on Monday morning at 3AM so he called it a night a little early and we headed back to Columbia. It was a great weekend spending time in Camden. It is nice to get away from the noise and all the commotion of living in the "city".

Baker's milestones
  • Still loves his milk. Drinks about 8 oz every morning, lunch time, dinner time, and bed time.
  • Favorite juice - Apple
  • He loves puffs, lil crunchies (veggie dip flavor), yogurt melts, fruit bits, and lil biscuits snacks all by Gerber. These little snacks help us get through our days, for sure. Especially when we are out to eat and our food hasn't come yet = lifesavers!
  • Favorite cookie - Fig Newton
  • Favorite baby food - Beef Macaroni and Vegetables by Beechnut. Yes, I still give him baby food. I figure if he likes it why stop? I try to do it in rotation with regular table food. I figure I'll keep giving it to him until he refuses...I'm sure that stage is around the corner so I'm getting extra nutrition in while I can!
  • Sleep Pattern - Bed time around 9PM and usually wakes anywhere between 8-930AM. He wakes up in the morning and usually I find him standing in his crib talking to himself or playing/talking to his stuffed animals.
  • Naps - On a good day, mid morning and late afternoon. On a bad day, usually one nap in the afternoon.
  • Favorite toy - Toss up between the jumper, toolbox (esp screwdriver), and anything with wheels (i.e. his dump truck).
  • Favorite bed buddy - Toss up between his seahorse glowworm, Gus the German Shepherd and his green sock monkey. He adores all 3.
  • He still is drinking from the bottle (gasp, I know!) but I think I finally found THE sippy cup that he will drink from without throwing the cup out of frustration. It is the Gerber Graduates NUK Fun Grips.
  • Favorite Saying - Uh Oh! Sometimes he will drop something on purpose just so he can say it.
  • Hair - Blonder than ever and it is growing so much! His hair is finally starting to fill in.
  • Eyes - His eye color is starting to look more like mine - still blue but it has more green filling in.
  • Crawling - He's mastered it. Prefers crawling up the stairs and has no interest in going down them.
  • Walking - Not yet. I'm hoping that is around the corner. He has to sometime soon!
  • Favorite Cartoon/Show - We only let him watch the Sprout channel which is a PBS network station that is 24/7 pre-school aged shows so they are a little "old" for him but he LOVES each and every one but particularly enjoys one show called "Caillou".
  • Baker loves to watch shows/videos on Gordie's I-pad. It was Gordie's birthday present that he got a little early but we all have been enjoying it SO much. We have a case that works perfect with our backseat so that way he can watch his favorite show while riding in the car so it is perfect! There is also an app we downloaded that is a piano so he can touch the screen and make piano sounds from hitting the keys. He smiles really big when he plays on it. Baker really seems to enjoy music - definitely see some talent coming from him in the future.
  • Personality - Outgoing, talkative, yet shy around strangers. He has a thing about getting embarrassed and turning his head over to his right shoulder when a stranger acknowledges him. It's so cute! He still squints the "Moore" face every now and then but he hasn't done it on a routine basis like he was doing when we first moved home.
  • He is also a thinker/observer since he prefers to watch and take note of what is going on or someone is doing and often times mimic what he sees.
  • Teeth - Molar #4 is poking through as we saw it last week. He is getting lots of his teeth at a fast pace! However, they are making him have such a SWEET smile. To think the gum smile made my heart melt...now seeing all his pearly whites make my heart glow when he grins.
  • He still waves bye bye and blows kisses. He is getting better at doing it on command. He still signs "more" and "all done".
  • He's wearing 18M clothes
  • He's my great shopping companion as he'll point things out for me while sitting in the cart - that's my boy!!
  • Still has a love/hate relationship with his car seat and diaper changing. Sometimes he goes in with ease and other times we are fighting to get him to sit down. He thinks standing up in his seat is the way to go. Then he won't lie still and would prefer to turn over on his tummy and crawl away naked than to let me put a new diaper on him. Having him hold a toy worked for a while but that's definitely worn off! Doing diaper changes while having him stand is a no go. That has only worked a few times in the car when we were desperate but his diaper ends up all messed up when we try that so we only do that way when we really have to. If you have suggestions, let me in on them!
This week we are taking it easy. We are hoping to make some decisions about my job situation this week and maybe hear something soon on Gordie's interview in the coming week and a half. Keep your fingers crossed!

Gordie's got two big events coming this weekend. Friday (28th) marks his LAST official day in the Air Force and Sunday is his 30th birthday! As you can imagine, we will definitely be celebrating it up this weekend & there will be plenty of pictures to come!

Have a great week!!
