Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence in All We Do...

Today is Gordie's official last day in the Air Force! Of course we are so excited to be home with our families but today is a day of reflection. We have been through SO much that I can't even begin to think or type about how many ups and downs we have had on our roller coaster journey with the Air Force but overall I am so thankful to Gordie for serving his country. To recap, during his time he was stationed at Monterey Bay, CA for the Defense Language Institute, Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi, Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, and then finally a few years at Hill AFB in Layton/Ogden, UT. His last assignment in Utah was the only one we spent together. We got married right before we moved to Utah but endured a long distance relationship while he was at all the other stations. Being apart made our relationship stronger having to deal with the distance and little visits here and there in between. But then being on our own in Utah made our marriage stronger having only each other to rely on for everything. We got orders to PCS to Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL and were really excited about the possbility of finally getting out of Utah and back to the East Coast. However, then we got news that his medical board that should have been processed back in 2009 finally went through and they were medically releasing him with benefits. We know God laid the best path for us and we are so thankful to be back in South Carolina where we have all our family and a lot of help! We have decided it is where we belong and want to stay and raise our family.

I love you Gordie and know you will do wonderful things outside the military -- Here's to you!

Quick stroll down memory lane...

Leaving Basic Training with his mama by his side
Last day at Basic Training - check out those glasses! :) He was so sick - getting over having a pneumonia.

In class @ DLI
His favorite spot to go to in Monterey Bay
This is a memory we will forever remember and laugh about. During one of Gordie's short trips home, we went to a park to take some pictures. On this occasion, I was setting up the timer on the railing of the gazebo and apparently got bird poop on my shirt in the process. This is me realizing what happened and the camera caught it all. Ha!
