Cozy Coupe

So we've been MIA lately. I am trying to get into a routine and get adjusted to the working life again. I usually take Baker to daycare in the morning since I don't have to be at work until 830AM and his daycare is on my way. Gordie doesn't have to be at work until 915AM; however, since he works in the NE and we are living in Irmo for now, he has quite the drive (a little over 30 minutes) and that includes the crazy morning traffic so he has to leave pretty early. I pretty much have our morning routine down pat and for all of you that know me, I thrive on being organized and having a schedule. I get up at 630AM to shower, dry my hair, and get dressed. Baker usually wakes up around 715AM (or lately I've had to wake him up) and he watches the Sprout channel while he drinks his morning milk. I usually feed him breakfast (oatmeal and a fruit) around 745AM and then we are out the door at 8AM (when Thomas & Friends comes on). I have to turn the TV off prior to it coming on otherwise we will be late. Baker LOVES him some Thomas & Friends! We sing songs on the way to daycare and I witness the most pitiful crying fest when I drop him off at 815AM. Lately he has been crying his eyes out, throwing his arms up in the air and screaming MAMA! It breaks my heart and pulls on my heart strings so badly! One day last week I cried my eyes out on the way to work. He never did this in Utah when we dropped him off so this crying bit is a whole new thing. I'm sure it is because he is getting older/separation anxiety/and the fact that we are now having a more of an emotional attachment as mommy and daddy than just the lady that feeds and changes me. Thankfully, his teachers are so sweet and try to make it not as hard on me and take him from me and try to distract him while I quietly escape; however, Baker is too smart and doesn't fall for it. But after his initial cry fest, he quickly forgets he was upset and is playing with all the other kids. After dropping him off, I am at work promptly before or right at 830AM. Having a schedule is ideal in my eyes. I am a morning person but I am not a happy person to be around if I'm running late. I can't stand to be late to work. I get off at 5:00PM and usually have Baker in my hands at 5:15. We come home, get him a snack/juice, he plays for a bit, feed him, I give him a bath, and then we relax and wait for Gordie to get home. He usually pulls in around 8PM and then we eat as a family and relax until bedtime. I hate that Gordie and I don't get to spend much time together every evening but I'm so thankful he has a job. He has off every Sunday and Tuesday so even though his weekend is broken up and I only have one day off with him, we make the best of it! Enough of our weekly routine...

This past weekend was delightful! We started out with date night at Chilis - the perfect way to cap off the week...we love their chips & salsa! Even though Gordie had to work on Saturday, Baker and I made the best of it. He slept the afternoon away so I took advantage of it and left him with Nana (my mom) and went shopping! I knocked out so many errands in just 2.5 hours. If I took Baker with me, it would have taken me ALL day. I forgot how much easier it is going in and out of stores by myself! I racked up on clearance and sale clothes for Baker. I got about 10 shirts for him to wear to daycare for less than $20 thanks to the sales at Old Navy & Target! On Presidents Day, I got him 6 pairs of pants from Kohls for $13 and saved over $50! I love deals!

On Sunday, we ate lunch with my parents at Lizards Thicket and then went to look at a house for sale in Forest Hills. If you don't know where that is, it is off Forest Drive. The house was in the most perfect neighborhood but it was too small. There were 2 bedrooms upstairs but because of the dormer windows in the back and the slanted roof, the ceilings were all weird and would make it difficult to do anything with the rooms and not to mention the ceiling in the bathroom we could hit our heads on - eeeek! Otherwise, it was a great house but too much home improvements for us right now. We'll keep casually looking. We then stopped at Toys R Us to get Baker a new toy! The weather on Sunday was supposed to be in the upper 70s but turns out it was 81 degrees! We got Baker a Cozy Coupe and we just knew he would LOVE it. He had fun trying out all sorts of other "rides" at the store but we managed to get a $20 off coupon at the register for his coupe so that was a nice surprise! After spending 2.5 hrs putting it together, Baker got to ride it for the first time. You can see just how much he loves it for yourselves. We spent Sunday evening in Camden with Gordie's parents. It was the most perfect way to cap off a great weekend! Gordie had off Monday and Tuesday (today) since he had so many hours in last week due to helping with inventory so he has thoroughly enjoyed sometime off. He even took me out to lunch today! It was a nice escape from the work day. I love our lunch dates!

Almost there...

Finished product!

I love how he just looks so comfortable hanging his arm on the door. He did this when he was in the swimming pool on his float.

What a cute driver!

Can it get any cuter than this?

He is driving already! *gasp!* :D

I take him for a ride every afternoon when we get home from work/daycare. Today it was a little chilly outside so we put on his jacket. Hard to believe we are wearing a jacket today when it was 85 degrees yesterday!

This is the ride he really LOVED at Toys R Us...maybe one day!
"Now we're parking!"
Look at me Mama...I'm a big boy!

Baker has his 15M well visit tomorrow morning at Ft. Jackson. I'll update you on his stats and what he's been doing tomorrow! Hope y'all are having a great week!
