What's dis?
Baker's personality and ability to communicate is definitely showing these days. Here's a run down of a few things he has said or done: - He still says "OH!" a lot but now has been saying it when he sees something he likes. (i.e. when I was drinking a glass of pink lemonade, he came up to me, looked at my glass and said "oohhhh" "ooooohhhhh" like he was really interested in it. He then followed that by saying "what's dis?" Seriously!! He then touched the outside of my glass with the tip of his pointer finger and got some of the condensation off my glass and then put that finger in his mouth and said "mmmm" Gordie and I couldn't help but laugh hysterically. He was really interested in my pink lemonade. Probably because I drank that stuff non-stop when I was pregnant.
- Baker was playing and found his soft football that Kent (our friend and my old SAIC co-worker) gave him. He really wanted to play with me because he then picked up my right hand, turned it over so my palm was facing up, and then put the football in it for me to throw it to him. He did this quite a few times and I found it ever so sweet! He was trying to say "Mommy, play with me!" without having the ability to actually voice it, he showed me! Ahhhh, it seriously melted my heart and put a BIG smile on my face.
- He mimics and imitates everyone. you say something whether it be a word, sound, etc. he will follow suit and say something or a sound that is just what you said. (i.e. he loves watching the pajanimals lullabies. One was on the other night called "lullaby" and it starts off with "la la la la". We were all singing along with the song and Baker just sat there listening. When the song was over and there was nothing but complete silence, Baker started saying "la la la la la" hahaa!
- He has been talking up a storm and while most words sound like complete baby talk, he sure is holding one interesting conversation with himself. He looks out the window and talks and talks about something. The trees, sky, grass, or birds. We'll just never know at this point but we can't wait until he can ramble all of it to us and I can understand it! He just has such a sweet voice!
His favorite toy to date - The Playskool Explore and Grow Busy Ball Popper! He wasn't sure what to think when he first got the toy. He didn't know how to press it to make the motor run and then when the balls would fly out he didn't grasp the concept to put them back in. However, these days we have to allot the time he has with it otherwise he won't do anything else! The toy has a nice place on the mantle when we have to put it up. A temper tantrum then usually ensues until you get his attention onto something else. But oh yes that's after he tries to stand on anything he possibly can to try and get closer to reach HIS toy. I wonder what his favorite toy will be in a few months?
