Weekend Picnic and Shopping!

We love Saturdays! Don't you? Saturday's are the best day of the week! They'd be even better if Gordie didn't have to work though. One day...Well we spent our morning eating pancakes and watching cartoons. Then we met my parents at the Harbison Park for a cookout that the recreation center was hosting. There were lots of people, fun games, firemen with a firetruck, and food!! Baker ate some pieces of a hot dog and thoroughly enjoyed him a whole piece of watermelon! He loved it and loved biting it off the rind and letting the juice drip down his chin. It was so cute! I guess we know one of his favorite summer fruits! Baker got a tattoo on his arm - a firetruck! He wasn't sure about it at first but loved it. He pointed at it and then looked up and pointed at the firetruck. He definitely made the connection.

After the park, we headed out to Lexington and did a little shopping. There's an awesome consignment shop that had somethings I wanted to get Baker. Unfortunately they had already sold the turtle we wanted but we'll have to keep checking back. We got him one of his favorite daycare toys - the zebra. We also got him the cutest table and 2 chairs to go in his room. They are made of wood and are so sturdy! I just couldn't pass it up. I knew I would definitely be paying more if I would have bought them brand new. My mom also got him a toy to give him for his birthday this year. I'll keep that a secret until it gets closer. Scary thought is that is only 6 months away - eeeeeek!

Baker had a big moment late Saturday afternoon....he FINALLY drank out of a straw! Yippee! You can watch a video - click here!We have been trying really hard to show him how to use a straw but I suppose he was going to wait until he wanted to do it. It was Gordie's Lemonberry slush the night before that got him interested in the straw and then I just showed him my Lizard's Thicket cup and he was off drinking away! He wouldn't give up my cup either as he had a master grip on it. Mind you this was after we had a snack of a few cheetos...another thing I found out quickly he loved.

Once Gordie got home, we then took a drive Saturday evening by the house that we are hoping to purchase!! Our house inspection went very well and now we are just waiting on the appraisal to come back. Keep your fingers crossed and pray everything falls into place. It really is the perfect home for all of us!

Saturday night was a relaxing one...see what we did -
click here! Gordie watched the baseball game as Baker and I played with blocks. He now enjoys stacking the blocks.

Sunday was Jewelry Warehouse Day at the USC Gamecocks baseball game. Gordie, Baker, and I had a fun day in the sun (and shade too!) and ate some yummy ballpark food. The game was great since USC won! I hadn't ever been to their new stadium so it was fun! We lucked out and didn't have any afternoon thunderstorms to ruin our fun. It was great getting to meet everyone at all the different JW locations. Gordie works with a great group of people!

Having fun at the game with Daddy

RK got to come too! You can see that the firetruck tattoo was still on his arm. It was a tough tattoo as it survived a bath the night before.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!
