As we expected, Baker was a trooper, champ, or perhaps the best baby ever. He didn't cry once the entire time. He seems to have the best temperament. Very laid back and easy going. As long as we are calm then he is too. I was surprised he wasn't as frustrated or fussy with him not being able to eat right when we woke him up. Usually I have the bottle ready for him. Today we scooped him out of bed and got him straight into the car and we were off to SLC!
We got there right on time, 7:30AM and got checked in. A nurse took his vitals and gave us his cute little gown, pants, and socks for him to wear. While she let the blood pressure cuff do the work and his oxygen levels get checked she blew bubbles in the room at him. Of course, he LOVED that. They do this at daycare so he is familiar with bubbles! We then got taken to another waiting room where the Dr. and Anesthesiologist met with us about the procedure and we were off! We walked down the hallway to the doors and we both gave Baker a kiss and hug and he happily went into the arms of Dr. Holly, the Anesthesiologist, and didn't ever look back! No tears, tantrum, or sad face at all. Good or bad? You decide but it made us feel SO much better about the entire procedure. We didn't have to go to the waiting room upset at all because he didn't seem upset and so we knew he would be just fine.
It seemed like he was only back for 10-15 minutes and we were informed they were done! Our thoughts were, really already? :) Dr. Kelly said he did great. We have heard from every doctor that has seen Baker that he has small ear canals. Dr. Kelly said the same thing and mentioned that he wasn't able to put in the intermediate tube he usually likes to use that stays in a little longer than the regular ones. The eardrum will heal and push the tube out but the intermediate ones seemingly will last longer so since his ear canals are more almond shaped instead of being round we'll see how these regular tubes hold up.
We got to his area (7) in the Post Op phase 2 rooms where we found him in the arms of a nurse being fed some glucose water. He was sucking those 2 ounces DOWN. He was hungry. After that went down fine, we were able to give him some apple juice and he ate all 6oz. He was really groggy but you could tell he was really happy to see us. We brought with us his favorite things: blanket, bear, sleep sheep, etc. so he was WELL taken care of. We have ear drops to put in his ears twice a day so we'll continue with those for 3 days. No ear plugs though. They say just don't let him lie in soapy water which we don't anyway so we are good to go!
We now are home and so far so good! He was all smiles going into surgery and after surgery he is still all smiles! What a sweet little boy we have. Oh, we are just so blessed! We stopped at Five Guys Burgers and Fries on the way home to get some lunch. We were STARVING! Neither of us had eaten anything all day. Baker seemed just fine so we ate there and of course he was still just smiling away. :) Now we are home and he is sleeping sweetly in his crib.
Sitting with mommy take 1. In the room waiting to get assessed by the nurse and PA prior to surgery.
*Notice from the 1st picture, he was wearing pj pants. Well, we got him out of the car and they were soaked. We had to change him in a bathroom that had no changing table. Can you believe a children's hospital would have a bathroom with no changing table? Who knew. Gordie held him while I grabbed the used diaper and threw on the new one. I'm sure it was quite the scene if you were a fly on the wall.
Me and the happy boy in the middle of changing clothes.

This is our boy, smiling as always. Love it.

Look at this sweet boy in hospital threads! Isn't he too cute for words? Poor nurse gave us newborn socks. He didn't really fit in those yet the toddler ones were a little too big. Either way I chose the bigger pair. Why shove your foot into tight socks? Ugh how uncomfortable!
