Let's see, Thursday (12/16) I had an interview set up with a staffing agency that I used before to update my information. Hopefully it brings something good to me eventually! They placed me at my last position in Columbia before we moved to Utah so we'll see! Then later that evening we got together with our friends, Justin and Brittan and their daughter Madi. We couldn't wait to see them and have our munchkins play! Madi is such a sweetheart and was so patient with Baker's baby "mine" attitude. He is too little to understand that every time she gets out a new toy that it isn't for him. :) Here's some pictures!

Playing with Madi

Hey girl whatchu doing?

aren't they so cute?!

What a present we have!

yayyy!

He loved playing with her magnets and I thought this picture of them standing next to each other was too precious!
Friday we met up with Clary to eat lunch at Pawley's Front Porch in 5 points. It was delicious! If you haven't been then you gotta try it out. I was so disappointed that I didn't snap a picture but they'll be more opportunities for that. Baker loved Clary except for giving her the "moore look" for a bit. I'll tell you more about that later.
Saturday we headed out to Camden to spend the weekend with Gordie's parents. Gordie painted their room over the garage while I watched/played with Baker and gave him some moral support! Since everyone worked so hard, I got dinner together and made us all tacos. It was very yummy and we had so much left over that we had it for lunch on Sunday. Anyone that knows me knows that I don't do repeats so this speaks volumes. :) We watched movies and hung out together and went to bed WAY too late that night. That's what Saturday nights are for though, right? Well, Sunday I felt awful. I am not adjusting to this time zone at all. I think the culprit is I'm going to bed way too late and then I can't drag myself out of bed before 9AM. So my goal was to get to bed REALLY early on Sunday to see how I felt on Monday. Gordie's parents went to the shop and worked on a job that has to be delivered on Wednesday that afternoon so it was nice to just veg and watch TV for a change. We then went out to downtown Camden to see where they'll be moving the shop since their landlord is basically shutting down operations at the location they're at now. It is super nice, great location, and I think the overall "feel" of the building radiates great personality. It has brick walls which give it a rustic feel, lots of space, and has a nice store front off Rutledge St. in Camden. We ate a yummy dinner of chicken and mashed potatoes and headed to bed early and I mean 945PM early. It felt great! I was up feeling refreshed at 730AM the next morning.

Playing with my brother - Baker loves uncle tim!

Random trip to Petsmart and he was smiling because he LOVES looking at the fishies!

Smiling at the laptop while hanging out in Camden watching Thomas the Train.

After breakfast in Camden - what a grin!

What a face! Someone played hard with the laugh and learn puppy

Exhausted and to believe this is in the morning after he woke up, drank his milk, and played for 20 minutes. He was ready to take a nap!
Monday we went by the DMV to see about registering Gordie's truck but failed to note we had to go by some random place first to pay his registration so since we didn't have time we got the necessary paperwork first. Gotta love multiple steps! We were pressed for time needing to get back to Columbia since I had a job interview at a placement agency at 1PM so we got the paperwork and have to go back next week. We got back to Irmo and I was running a little behind getting out the door and anyone who knows me knows I HAVE to be on time to interviews if not 10 minutes early. Well, I was going to be no where early so I was rushing and of course forgot my SS card so I had to come back to the house to get it. Gordie met me outside and said guess what Baker just said? He said "Peekaboo!" Our little boy's first abstract word was said and I missed it!!! Ohhhh I know he'll say it again but how precious! He loves to play peekaboo so it is no surprise that it was his first word aside from Ma Ma, Da Da, Na Na, and Ba Ba. Back to the interview. It went great. I'll see if it leads to any bites in the coming future. He has one lead that might be a great opportunity for me so we'll see if it pans out.
Today is my 2nd mom's (Gordie's Mama) birthday! We met her, Ashley, Wesley, and another lady that works with her Phyllis at Everyday Gourmet in Camden for lunch. It was delicious as always and then everyone ate cupcakes I made for dessert. They were delicious!! If anyone wants to know, that can icing that is by Betty Crocker that has on the front "cupcake icing" comes in white, blue, or pink...is the BEST! It makes it so easy to put icing on cupcakes it is ridiculous. Much easier than putting it in a bag and piping it on or just plainly using a spatula and spreading it. They turned out great! We had devils food (chocolate) or cinnamon swirl. I had a chocolate one and it was delish!

The yummy cupcakes for the birthday girl

She was in denial here that we were going to sing to her in the middle of the restaurant!

Making her wish!

Blowing them out - 2 candles total - 1 candle to celebrate her birthday and 1 to celebrate her new church contract to do some pew cushions and other draperies. It is a big job but it is so wonderful that they chose her! If you need any sort of drapery, upholstery, or slipcover - She is your woman!!
We got done eating and then had to fly back down the highway to Columbia so I could be at an interview at 2PM. We got there just in the nick of time as I walked in the office at 1:53PM. It was a good interview and I think would be a great position. She is interviewing 2 more candidates and then conducting second interviews so I'll know something by next week! Keep your fingers crossed!
Moving onto important things like...Baker!!
Our little one is 12 months old and will be 13 months old tomorrow! (where does the time go? This will always be my overstated question but I'm serious!!)
Here are some milestones he has been showing lately:
- The Moore Look - he seems to do this "face" all the time. He sort of squints his eyes and has his mouth somewhat perched open and gives you the stare. It's almost a what the heck? kinda look. Ha! He does it often but seems to continue it when he gets a reaction out of you.
- Does a 1 legged crawl. He likes to hike his one leg up almost like he wants to stand but then regular crawl with the rest of his body. I'll see if I can't get a picture for you.
- Got his first pair of big boy shoes! They're brown and he somewhat likes them and somewhat hates them. We'll see. We just got them the other day so he hasn't worn them enough for me to know how he likes them. All I know is he seems to feel empowered in them. Meaning he won't want to sit in his carseat if you put him in the car. Twice yesterday he wanted to turn around in the carseat and not sit down. I think he knows they make him more "sturdy" and he would rather stand than sit with them on. Maybe they'll empower him to walk soon? Stay tuned.
- Said his first abstract word (12/20) - Peekaboo. I think that is a word. :)
- Has blantently said words like "Yeah" and "What?" (12/20). He also mimics a lot so it sounds like he has said a whole lot more than that. (i.e. he mimicked me when I made a rooster crow.)
- He is drinking whole milk (8oz) throughout the day. He loves table food and continues to eat baby food, cereal, and puffs daily.
- Still holding his cup and religiously holds his own bottle even sitting in a highchair.
- Loves his toys - he has lots of them and plays with every single one.
- Continues to enjoy jumping in his jumper. Sometimes he jumps so hard and so high that I think he might eventually just jump right out of it. Thankfully he can't but he gets going so hard that it sounds like the thing is going to just break!
- Can open presents! He learned a bit after his birthday how to do this and I'm sure after Christmas presents he will be a pro.
- Sleeping like a great baby. He still sleeps about 10-11 hours a night. He sleeps in and it is great because if I get up early, I can usually get things done before he gets up. He also wakes up in such a great mood just babbling away. Very rarely does he wake up screaming or crying.
- Is such a snuggler. He will slam his face on yours to get close. He definitely enjoyed his skin to skin time as an infant and loves to be close now as a little toddler.
- I still have to get a pediatrician on board for him. I have been so busy that we haven't had time to do the paperwork but it is a must and I will be doing that tomorrow - no ifs ands or buts!

Here is the perfect example of his curious ways. This was actually during a diaper change. He crawled away and stood up and wanted to grab ornaments off the tree! *Aside from Baker being in the buff - doesn't he have just the cutest tush? :)

On our way to lunch at Lizard's Thicket with Poppy (12/23)

He had a little too much fun with the napkins while we were there.

Sporting his Santa necklace. Isn't it cute? A man dressed up as Santa came around the restaurant and gave it to Baker. He apparently makes them and gives them away during the holiday season to spread some Christmas cheer. Baker didn't mind wearing it while we ate but it now has a home in his memory box because I didn't want him to tear it apart and get the beads off and somehow swallow any.
I had planned on giving Baker a belated birthday party (just a little late) but unfortunately time is escaping us and now that he isn't a new 1 year old I think we'll probably just can the idea all together. It is a lot to plan a party especially this late and now tomorrow he'll be 13 months so I think we'll just make it up to him by a nice, big 2nd birthday bash next year. Mommy and Daddy are so sorry sweetheart!! We'll make it up to you! Between moving, trying to get new jobs, seeing family, getting ready for the holidays, and trying to catch our breath we haven't had many moments to ourselves to think yet plan a party.
Speaking of celebrations - Christmas is only 4 days away! Where did 2010 go? We'll be celebrating the holidays at Gordie's parents house on Christmas Eve and then celebrating with my family on Christmas Day. Let the festivities begin! What are you guys doing or planning for Christmas?
We wish you guys a Merry Christmas!!
