Baker is 6 weeks old this week. It is amazing just how fast time is flying by. I typically would be headed back to work this week as my disability ends today but I am taking 6 more weeks (unpaid) off to be with my bundle of joy!
We started the new year off with taking Baker to church yesterday. He did well and I was impressed. We sat at the very back just in case he got fussy. He grunted and moaned a few times (which isn't surprising) but we didn't have any crying or tears! We had communion and it was a great service to kick off a new year for us. Now that he behaved we are going to try and make it back to our weekly routine of going to church every Sunday. They have a nursery there that I can take him to as they only have one other baby in there so he would get exclusive attention but being a new mom I have a problem letting him go even if it is only for an hour! Maybe someday... :)
Baker's Milestones so far:
*He latched onto daddy's nipple when he was hungry on 12/1. I think he was hoping we both had milk to feed him since I was busy pumping and he didn't want to wait. Gordie screamed and I couldn't stop laughing. He now knew what breastfeeding felt like or a little of it at least. haha
*Baker lost his umbilical cord stump on 12/2! Thank goodness!! We were so annoyed with the stump being there. It made diaper changes difficult even though the newborn diapers we were using were supposed to have the curved edge to allow room for the stump--the diapers swallowed him so the curved edge wasn't helpful for us as there was just too much "diaper" there that just kept bumping the stump.
*Sleeps in 4 hour stretches during the night. Waking up only once or twice. When we first brought him home, he was sleeping a lot during the night and waking up once. We would have to set an alarm to wake him up to feed. He wouldn't ever wake up. However, that isn't the case now!
*Smiles a lot (gas or not, it is still adorable!)
*Loves to look around and stare at his toys, mobile, and lights.
*Turns his head from side to side while lying on his back on his playgym.
*Lifts up his head and feet during tummy time.
*LOVES to kick especially with his right leg.
*He shed his first tear on 12/23 at Wee Care Pediatrics during a doctor visit.
*He is a sneezer. Hopefully he doesn't have bad allergies. On 12/28, I was burping him after eating and he sneezed milk out through his nose and it just happened to land right on my computer mouse! haha
*Holds his head up 90 degrees when you hold him. He even wants to hold his head up when you try to burp him.
*He LOVES lying in the boppy pillow, swing, playing on his playgym, and sitting in his bouncer watching TV.
*He watched a 2 hour movie, The Hangover, from start to finish without budging. That was the longest interval he has ever stayed in one place and stayed awake!
*He is starting to stay awake more during the day. I am hoping this means he will sleep longer at night! I'd love to sleep the entire night!
*He grabs his mr. soothie from his mouth and holds onto it.
*He is learning to focus on more things and is grabbing things with his hands.
*He loves TV - Gordie has him watching football already!
