Yesterday I was getting anxious that we hadn't looked at enough daycare facilities to truly make a good decision about where to put Baker. I saw Edu-Care on the way to Target last night but that went in a dead end as the youngest they care for is 2 years old. When I got home, I got on the computer and searched for more daycares to see if there were any others in the area we could visit. I came across one called Tender Years. It is about 5 minutes away from our house and is near his pediatrician's office. I checked out their website and it seemed pretty good but you can't judge til you pay them a visit. Gordie got off work early today so we made that our first thing we did when he got off. We decided not to call this one prior to coming so we could see the facility and meet the people without talking to them prior so they were caught "off guard" so to speak. :) The girl that gave us a tour was awesome. Her name was Jessica! Maybe that was a sign too..hey, she's got a good name! hahah :)
They have 3 infant rooms since every baby is different and crawl and walk at their own pace. They will move the babies up accordingly with their development. The rooms were very clean, had dim lighting while the babies napped, there was calm, sweet music playing in the room to soothe them, and lots of developmental toys in the room (swings, play mats, etc.) for when they are more awake and wanting to play. Gordie and I both looked at each other and thought this is the place. I figured I would get that feeling when I came across the right place and this was the place. La Petite was a great facility but they couldn't provide us with the time we needed them and they were quite pricey. This place is $30/week cheaper and you get a $5/week discount if you pay the weekly tuition on Monday. So the savings between the two is $140/month which is a lot when you look at it as $1,680/year saving. The tuition there includes meals but Baker won't really be utilizing that quite yet. They do provide formula; however, Baker will be getting breastmilk and the regular Enfamil that I have been supplementing with at times. They give the babies Parents Choice so I'll just take some Enfamil with him so that when he needs it they can use that rather than changing up his formula just because that's what they provide. All of the kids seemed really happy there. We visited the 2 yr old room (that is the 3rd infant room) and they were napping after lunch. They all seemed well taken care of and we saw one of the childcare providers stroking a little boys head to sleep. :)
Overall, we were really impressed with the facility and the people there. They said 2 babies were moving up to the other room which would allow Baker the opportunity to have a spot right away if we wanted it. She said that rarely happens as people usually have to wait a month or so but to go home and think about it to make sure you make the right decision but not to wait too long as the spot will get taken fast if not acted on. We walked out to the truck and talked about it. We both knew that was where we wanted to take him so Gordie went back in and got the paperwork and paid the registration fee. It almost reminded me of the time we got Miller. We went in the house to see the puppies and then left saying we were going to "think about it" then when we got in the car we were like he is the one! haha so I guess this daycare was just like that. We just knew. :) They loved Baker when they saw him and are excited to have him join the babies there. We are excited too! Now we just have to figure out our schedules and see when to drop him off and pick him up. They are open 5AM-7PM so we'll figure something out but I think for now Gordie might drop off and I will pick him up in the afternoon. Now we just hope and continue to pray that Baker likes it there and that they keep him with the good care we approved of!

Here is the cutest picture of Baker in an outfit from a friend of ours, Sam Pearl. Isn't it the cutest? According to Baker's face, he seems to like it a lot; however, I told him he cannot wear it the first day of daycare as he can't let all the girl babies know he is eligible quite yet! hahahah

I thought ya'll were moving out to SC soon. Has that changed?
ReplyDeleteWell, somewhat. To put it short, the AF has a long history of being slow and not to mention failed promises so right now we are still here and I'm not sure when they are having us go anywhere. :( We continue to pray and hope for the best. We can't wait to be home.
