Rubba Dub Dub, 7 Weeks, & zzzzzzzzzzzz's

On Thursday, Jan 7th I decided I would try to give Baker a bath by myself. That was a big step for me since I always like to have one extra set of hands just in case. He is quite a slippery baby when he's wet and he loves to wiggle so I was extra careful. It was a success and we didn't have any tears. I was expecting him to get fed up with me since I am slow at giving him a bath especially doing it by myself but he was just as content as could be. Baker always loved baths and being in the water and as the weeks are passing by we are seeing that he enjoys to relax in the water even more! He has started to put his arms and legs outside of the newborn sling and have them "rest" in the water while I get him clean like he is kicking back and relaxing...I used a tool in Paint to cover his "jewels" up. They didn't have a good flesh color so blue had to do!

Happy 7 weeks Baker! Time is just flying by and not too much has changed from last week except he is starting to get more vocal when it is time to eat. He still does the "ungeeee" cry but he has also added a bottom lip shiver. He will cry, pout, scream, do the "ungeee" cry and then he will do this weird cry with a lip shiver. hahah it is really cute but so weird at the same time! Baker is really turning into quite the pouter. He loves to cry and then stick his bottom lip out to really make you feel guilty! He is already winning our hearts over and we'll have to be careful of this down the road! He continues to lift his head up all the time and he is starting to realize that those things we call hands can be inserted into the mouth when mom doesn't get his ba ba's ready in a timely manner (granted we are talking about his mindset of time which is always, NOW!)

While we were at the BX last week, I bought these car seat strap covers so that when he is in his car seat the straps don't cut into his neck. He has a bad habit of letting his neck fall to the left and almost dangle down in the most uncomfortable looking position. The newborn headrest in his car seat wasn't helping so I thought these strap covers might help keep his neck up and the belt not to dig into his neck. The only reason I say I thought they would help is because they have these monkey heads on them that would help keep his head from dangling down. Now that they are in use I have found that they do help; however, he has now started a new habit of trying to eat the monkey's ear! haha It is hilarious to watch him bite it. Here are a few pictures...

I unbuckled his belt and he didn't seem too happy. He'd rather stay with his monkeys...

Sleep? Who needs that? Well, I sure do and Baker gave us just exactly what the Dr. ordered last night! He slept through the entire night without waking up! *SOUND THE ALARMS!!!* He went to bed around 11:30PM and I woke up at 5:45AM and looked at the clock and almost gasped in delight! Did he really sleep 6 hrs and 15 minutes?!?! Gordie had to get up for work in 5 minutes and that meant Baker slept the entire night and didn't wake me up to eat! I quickly and quietly looked down at the pack n play to make sure everything was okay and he was just sleeping away. I got a bottle ready and he started cooing and waking around 6:00AM. Boy, was I feeling like a million bucks! hahah It felt soo good to sleep the entire night without being woken up for once! I am hoping this becomes somewhat of a routine although I know he'll go back to waking up but even if it was just for one night. I am not sure if it was because I put him in his swing for 45 minutes before bed, the fact that he wore a gerber gown with socks and a swaddle blanket to bed, or if he just was that tired and slept the entire night just because. Either way, I was thrilled! It kick started my day as I didn't go back to sleep. I didn't want to ruin this beautiful day when I was wide awake with energy to get somethings done. I bought a Jillian Michaels Wii workout game at Target over the weekend so I was motivated today to try it out. Granted I only played it for 15 minutes, I plan to increase the time gradually every other day. It was a lot of fun and easy to do as I just had Baker in the bouncer watching me. His face looked like he wasn't sure what I was doing at times but it was much easier than trying to find someone to watch him for me to go to the gym. It was a great start to this week so we'll see what the rest of the nights have in store for us. Either way, it was great!

We took a field trip to take daddy his lunch, mail Madi's birthday package at the post office, and finished with a pitt stop at FedEx to fax my timecard to finalize my disability claim. Baker of course did superb! He started to get a little fussy at the post office but who wouldn't? I absolutely hate that place and the one near our house is always so busy no matter what time of the day you go. We were there almost a total of 30 minutes 4 of which we spent at the register. Crazy if you ask me!! Of course our highlight of the day was seeing daddy... :)
