28 Weeks & Glucose Testing

September 9, 2009

Well, we are at week 28 according to the Doctor so the weeks are plugging along. Time is flying by so I am trying to savor every minute even though I am starting to get more and more uncomfortable. Sleeping at night is getting more difficult even with extra pillows and an inclined pillow for my stomach. I'm trying to get as much rest as possible because I know I won't have much of that in a few months! We babysat a 2 month old this past Saturday so that helped get us some experience with a really little baby. She was delightful and ever so cute! Gordie didn't partake in changing the dirty diapers as he said he wanted to wait for his own baby to do that. I just laughed :) I forsee lots of gagging in his future when changing stinky diapers as he doesn't handle changing Freida's kitty litter too well. But I'm sure that will get better over time. It will at least provide me some good laughs along the way. He is such a supportive and loving husband so I couldn't ask for anyone or anything better. Baby Chloe absolutely loved him so I can't wait to see how much our baby adores him.

We had our appointment today and it was a big one since I had my glucose test. I had to eat a full size candy bar and drink 8 oz of any soda in a span of 10 minutes 45 minutes before my appt time. They make you drink the really sweet drink in the 3 hr fasting glucose test if you don't pass the first test so I was really hoping that everything would turn out fine. Typically indulging in those would be heaven to anyone but I really am not fond of any chocolate candy bar and had to suffer through eating an entire snickers bar. Despite being almost disgusted, everything turned out great. My level was 114 and they like you to be under 140 so no gestational diabetes, woohoo!

I have gained 19.6 lbs to date since I started my pregnancy and the nurse/dr. both agree that is good for me. I was in the "underweight" category when I went in so they are pleased. Baby Moore is very healthy and is weighing 2 lbs 8 oz so he is still growing and looking great. He was head down with his face away from us which is the delivery position but our Dr. says a lot of babies do this around this time in the 3rd trimester to "practice" for the real thing. Let's hope so because I don't want him coming out yet, he still has a lot of growing left!! Other than that we have a blessing on our hands because we haven't seen any issues yet so we keep praying that he continues to stay a healthy, growing baby!

The picture above is from this evening after we ate dinner at our local favorite, Costa Vida, after my appointment before Gordie went back to work. As you can see I am noticeably bigger and carrying fairly low. Sometimes I feel like my pelvis is going to just blow because he is down so far (gross sounding, I know). He is starting to react to our voices and touches when we talk and poke at him. He responds by poking or kicking back which is really neat. He still is active as can be and since he is upside down, I suppose that's how he is giving me such hard kicks in the sides lately.

I go back on October 7th for my next appointment and then I will start going every 2 weeks as we are getting closer to the delivery date. It is an exciting time and I wish I was there to have all of you be a part of it! I hope this finds each of you well and we can't wait to get back home someday soon to see all of you!
