Despite getting food poisoning at 12 weeks and feeling sick as dog, I recovered and the baby wasn't harmed. I was so worried because I had never been so sick. I was out of work for 2 full days thanks to a salad I had eaten during lunch at a local restaurant near my work. I have yet to go back there and doubt I ever will. I am almost done with my first trimester which is soo hard to believe how fast time is flying. I really haven't had any complications at all. No morning sickness, no cravings, etc. I really have only had food aversions which has made dinner planning a little difficult as NOTHING sounds good to eat.
We had our second appointment on June 3rd as I am 13.5 weeks along. I have gained 2 lbs since my last appointment and compared to the first ultrasound picture, the baby has grown a lot! I still look the same and am still wearing my normal clothes. I tried to invest in a pant extender but realized that that wasn't going to work because I wasn't far enough along and it just bunched up my pant waist. So thanks to a smart co-worker, I started using hair rubberbands to help "close" my pants comfortably. It worked well!
We watched a movie that I had long been wanting to see called Marley & Me. Of course my over sensitive emotions got in the way and I cried like a baby at certain parts. It was a good movie but I don't think I could watch it again. Miller is just like a family member to us so I could sympathize with the movie on so many levels. No more sappy movies for me at least until my hormones stabilize!
As you can see in the picture, the baby was sitting at a funny angle as it didn't want to reveal his/her face to us as you can see the very detailed spine with the head turned and the legs and feet at the bottom. We should be able to find out if it is a boy or a girl at our next appointment on July 1st; however, given the odd position the baby is in right now I am not going to hold my breath. :P We'll see as it is all a matter of timing! The baby's heartbeat was still very strong and the Dr. agreed that the progression of growth and everything looked perfect so we are feeling very blessed! I should have my bloodwork for genetic testing done in July so we're praying all that turns out perfect as well.
