As you can see, my tummy is an ever growing volleyball! I'm thankful to not have had any complications other than discomforts lately so that is a blessing. It is hard taking weekly pictures of myself since Gordie works swing shift so finding a place to put the camera on self timer is always a challenge. However, it has been a little easier since my mother in law (martha) gave me the gorilla pod for my birthday! If you don't know or haven't seen what a gorilla pod is then you really should google it! It is a thing that screws into the bottom of your camera that acts like a tripod that can bend and twist and pretty much attach to anything so it's helpful when there is no one around to take your picture for you. It's really neat!
Two weekends ago, our new neighbors put sod down in their backyard. They were going out of town over labor day weekend and had a ton left that they weren't going to use. We are only renting our house and if you have seen any pictures, we really don't have a "grassy" backyard. It is more or less just weeds and dirt. We jumped on the opportunity to take some of the sod off their hands and Gordie got to work digging up the backyard to lay the sod. We got enough to sod most of the 2nd tier of the yard which is essentially the most used part with Miller and us when we grill on the patio. However, after laying the sod down we have come to realize keeping Miller away from pulling it back up is quite the challenge. I'm not sure if it is the way the sod smells or just that he knows it wasn't there before but he sure does like to pretend he isn't interested and then sneak around the corner and grab a corner of the sod and run. Boy, does it irritate the heck out of me only because Gordie spent sooo much time and hard work putting it down especially with no help since all I was good for was water breaks and moral support! Well, we have come to find out he really likes to pull it up and run when it is wet so we have learned to take him out on a leash when the grass is wet to avoid him pulling up more. The grass is really taking well in certain spots and not so well in others but I think it is really going to look good and come back next spring looking even better after the winter. Needless to say, we are so thankful for our neighbors offering us some of the sod. I can't tell you how many times we have gotten these god awful stickers in our feet or had to pull them out of Miller's feet because this one specific weed was taking over the entire yard.
There is a funny story about the weed stickers that happened just the other night. Gordie and I took Miller outside before bed and didn't take him out on the leash this time since we thought he could handle not messing with the grass. Of course, right when he was coming up to come in, he grabs a good chunk of grass and darts around the yard. Gordie threw a ball at him to divert his attention and he then came in. However, it was after he got in his kennel that we realized what really happened. After he darted around the yard thinking he was hot stuff for grabbing some of the sod, he must have run through some sticker weeds as he had 2 huge ones stuck in his nose! It was the most hilarious sight to see only because he just acted up so bad it was like he was getting punished for it! I carefully pulled them out for him but I knew they had to hurt as they were pretty deep in there. You can see from the picture how funny it really was. It must not have been hurting him because it really didn't seem to phase him what was going on as he is "smiling" in the picture. :)
Well, tomorrow I am only working a 1/2 day so I can attend a bundles for babies class on base. They are supposed to give out free baby items, clothes, etc. so I thought hey, why not get the most that I can out of the AF. Because they sure take a lot out of me through my husband. So I am looking forward to that and seeing what kind of information they have to provide. I figure taking as many classes I can about anything preparing us for the baby is best. I'll have to post tomorrow to let you know what we got and how helpful it was!
A guy in my office named Kent is the biggest University of Utah fan on this planet (I am convinced). He has the biggest heart and it was so sweet as he had a gift bag sitting on my desk on Monday morning. He got baby Baker a Utah Utes 3 piece creeper set! It is a onesie that is in the material of a thick jersey, a bib, and little addidas booties that of course sport the Utah Utes logo on the each. He said while we live out here we have to have baby Baker pull for the Utes! :) Gordie loved it although it isn't the Gamecocks, we will share a liking for the Utah Utes while living here. He also was sure to buy a plush football with the U of U logo on it for him to start preparing his throwing arm in his baby/toddler years. He bought the outfit big so he would be able to wear it for next football season, what a planner and sweet gift! I'll post a picture of it tomorrow.
Much Love & Sweet dreams!
